Could someone with a truck with the OEM LED footwell lights take a picture of exactly where the front passenger light is? The driver's side is easy with it being on the OBDII connector bracket, but there does not seem to be a pre-cut location for the one on the passenger side. Note: I'm looking for the location of the light itself, not the wire, I know where the wire is.

I just noticed today while cleaning my Husky weather beater mats that my truck has lighting in the foot well of the drivers and passenger side. Being that I just noticed this today in daytime while down in that area cleaning has me thinking I need to upgrade those bulbs. They are definitely not LED, and must not be very bright, if I've never noticed them at night. Gonna do some digging on this topic.

Anything 2013+ should have the factory LED ones. I installed a set of them in my 2014 Express and they seem plenty bright to me. They illuminate the footwells very well. If you look at them and they are a small flat rectangular lens (about 1/4") then they are the LEDs. The incandescent ones have a larger (about 1") circular domed lens. The driver's side is on the same bracket as the ODBC connector, the passenger side is embedded in the carpet-like cover under the dash.

Note: They only illuminate when the dome light does, they don't stay on all the time.

Hmm, I'll have to check again, and at night. Looking at them today, I assumed they were small incandescent bulbs. But yes, they are located in the exact locations as you described. I fidgeted around with the passenger side one in the carpet pad below the glove box for a second to inspect the bulb, but didn't get the cover off.

The cover you see is actually just a bezel. If you pry it loose the entire light will come loose from the back. Not a big deal on the drivers side, but on the passenger side you may need to pull the lower glovebox out to get it back into place. The fixture itself is a sealed unit that looks like this:

If you really want brighter ones you can get the older style for about $10 each. The passenger side one fits in the odd shaped depression in the carpet pad. The drivers side one you would need to zip-tie to the ODBC bracket. The old style uses a 194 bulb and you can get brighter LED 194's. The OEM LED ones run over $20 each even at the discount places, so you could probably sell them here on the forumz and more than recoup your cost.

The old style looks like this:

Awesome, thanks KAD! I'd send some rep points, but apparently I cannot, since I have done so recently for you.

I'm going to assess the lights tonight and make my decision if I should upgrade or not. Either way, thanks again for the info.
