This thread is speaking about the 2-1 gear transmission clunk(8speed), the 1st gear drop from a stop and the lunge the transmission creates when braking.

- I got my truck back from the dealer yesterday. As was stated the first time I took it in..."its running as designed" was the response. Now a Chrysler Rep is going to reach out to me to see what we can do. Gentleman, I am on the war path right now. Not just for myself but everyone that has been sold a truck with the same conditions(seems there are quite a lot after reading the forums) It appears they have justified overlooking the safety aspect of their customers.

- I am going to start a petition with the help of fellow members to have this wrong doing, corrected. Please help me with with this as I can't do it alone. If you would like to PM me with your story or any other info I can gather it would be very helpful. I don't think we should sit idle and let a manufacturer push their weight by helping one at a time. Thousands of people are driving trucks that are not safe by design.

Mine doesn't do it everytime but it gets annoying when it does. With all this clunking it can't be good for the transmission. Just hope they replace it when something goes wrong with it. The only other transmission that did that was the old military truck I use to drive and it was designed to do that.

I agree that it is very annoying but I think the more important part is safety. The trans has lunged my car just that much closer to the car braking hard in from of me. It has almost caused 5 accidents already and I don't want to be responsible for the flaw. Does your truck lunge forward as well?

I don't know if what I have observed is the same as your issue.

If I hard brake, like aggressive because of someone stopping quicker than I anticipated, I notice a rough last down shift between the 2-1, not sure about a audible noise, but I feel it. Is this your issue? I have noticed no issue if I'm smoothly braking to a stop.

As far as drag, I read in the brochure that when you lift your foot that the brake system actually snugs up the pads to the rotors as a safety feature to reduce braking time. This was grouped under the info about hill start assist and such. Not sure if this is covered in the manual or not, but seems fine to me

I AGREE with you HEMInoles13 100%... My truck does the same thing. It happens 70-80% of the time and its harsher when the truck is warmed up. It also is worse when I come to a more abrupt stop....While stopping just before complete stop there is a surge with a knock seemly coming from the rear somewhere in the 2-1-idle transition....Then while completely stopped, as soon as I let go of the brake transitioning to hit the gas there is a large clunk.

It seems like a drivetrain or transmission issue and I have read endless threads of people with the same issues. It seems to only be on 13-14 models. The dealership has told me its normal and I know its not because my brother has the same truck and it doesnt do that. I have a 3.21 rear and Im wondering if that has something to do with it because my brother has the 3.92 and it performs flawlessly.

Please let me know your thoughts.... lets try and get all this fixed.

Thank you for the info CamsRam2014! It's definitely worse once the transmission is warmed up. I also have 3.21 gears and the dealer looked over everything and didn't ask about the gears. I wonder if this could be the root of our problem.

You and I are in the same exact boat. I really appreciate the input, now Chrysler may listen to its customers. I am going to do my best to help get this resolved for all of us. I know this is the first step and it may be a long road but I will not stop until OUR safety, money, and trucks are acknowledged.

thank you for taking the initiative to do this. It is the most annoying thing as you probably feel the same way. what did the dealer say to you?

It would also be nice to know what rear gears everyone has that has the same problem so that we could either diagnose this or eliminate the possibility that it might have to do with the gear ratio in the rear.

All input is appreciated

Just picked a 2015 with 3.92 gears. Only have 100 miles on it so far, I have noticed when set to display the current gear in use, the tranny will not downshift to 1st until I'm completely stopped. Perhaps they programmed the 2015 to defeat the 2-1downshift until forward motion ends. I have not tried a hard stop yet.

3:55, mine has a mild case of it. Sometimes from 2-1 it bumps other times it's perfect. Doesn't really bother me.
Same gears as mine but I have the 3.6 Pentastar, which I think somewhere on the forum they said there is a new flash for the computer that will fix it. I haven't gone in yet to get it done.

Consult with Transengineer. He was taking VINS to forward to the 8-speed team. I believe they don't have enough complaint narratives to fix the clunk.

3.92 and I have the clunk when coming to a stop.

Stopped for a few, then recently returned. I'm at 9400 miles.
Doesn't do it while in tow/haul, and after being in tow haul for a few miles I switch back to drive and it's fine for a while too.

It has to be a software issue that they haven't figured out yet.

I really don't want to waste my time taking it in to the dealer for the "relearn" process that they'll more than likely want to put it through. Atleast that's what they told me they were going to do if it the clunk returned.....it quit the very morning of the day I took it in.

To the OP: Thank you for getting this started. Im more than willing to sign the petition.

I've also had the TSB for the Pentastar applied to my truck and it fixed the problem. It seems to me the existence of this TSB means they have acknowledged the problem, and it is obviously something they can fix with software. You'd think it is only a matter of time before they do this for the other engines.
