To begin, the 2012 Ram 1500 I have was a gift from my parents. I have the ST w/ the Express add-on package. I have dual exhaust, Hemi, painted front & rear bumpers, 20" rims, all that good stuff. It does not have a power seat and I would like to add it. It is very doable but I need a breakdown of the parts, much like you would see in a service manual. I felt like since I did not have to pay for the truck, it would have been pretty disrespectful to ask for a more expensive truck. Any help would be great.

Hello, congratulations on the truck.

The seat swap is pretty easy. The thing to do is to find a power seat from a local auto recycler so you do not end up paying freight otherwise it is a bit more money.

I just installed a power seat on my truck on sunday. The swap was easy although I did have to swap my fabric and trim since the seat I bought was the wrong color. No big deal the fabric comes off with the cushions attached so I did not have to mess with any hog rings and the j clips on the bottom are easy to remove. All of the trim pieces also swapped over and the only thing I had to buy was a switch bezel for $6.35 p/n INL82XDVAA to change from tan back to gray.

For the power I had to splice into an existing wire under the seat to supply fused power to the orange wire on the seat wire harness. That wire was not on my harness but I may be on yours since it is a 2012 ?

Hope this helps.
I may be way off base on this, as i have not researched it

it would seem to me that all the actual bucket seats are the same
You should be able to get the base that the seat sits on & switch them out
Close, but the base is tied in with the back due to the power recline and also the upper structure of the seat back is different due to the lumbar components of the seat including a motor are mounted there.

I have manual bench seat, 40/20/40. I would also love to switch out the center seat. A buddy of mine has a 2010 Big Horn edition, and his center seat has storage in it plus he has the flip up console with storage. I have a buddy at a Dodge dealership where we got the truck so I will see if he can get me a service manual. I have one for my sport bike and it has been handy a few times. Little things like the sunvisors not having a vanity mirror in them kind of baffles me, are they really that much more expensive?? Oh well, easy swap there.
When I bought my overhead console I was able to buy the vanity mirrors off the same vehicle and swapped them in also. They are the lighted mirrors and the wiring harness for the console came with the plug needed for the drivers side but for the passenger side I had to run a wire. Since I had to drop the headliner a bit to install the console anyway running the wire was no big deal.
You pretty much got a base model truck so it's not gonna have a lot of features. An express is a prettied up st with a hemi
seat

I just made the seat swap, the man I got my seat from told me that the f150 seat is the same as the Dodge. If this is so might make it easier to find a seat.
Please let me know how you make out changing seats,I have the same truck as you and want to change to power seat

I know it's been a while but did you ever find out if that information was correct? I have a 2011 ram I'd like to put leather/power seats in.
