So I have A 2018 power wagon with just under 11k miles. Yesterday I took The rig off road and towards the end of the trip my power steering appeared to be failing. As I checked It out it would work normal while at speed, but had no power if stopped and I attempted to turn the wheel. It also made a whining noise as if I was turning the wheel to the max end. I saw the fluid was low and filled it up and the noise seemed to go away. The steering improved at low speeds but is still an issue when stopped.

There is no noticeable damage/leaks and none of the lines look crimped as far as I can Tell. Does the fluid just need time to get back in the line or is there a more serious issue going on here.

Thanks,

Doug

I think "why was it low" is the question. There's a leak somewhere I'd say. Being an 18 I think I'd bring it to the dealer. Running a power steering pump low on fluid isn't really the best for them, you could have damaged it.
