I own a 2005 Dodge Ram SLT 1500, recently I noticed that my power steering has been going out intermittenly and losing power, not sure if its just the pump going out or a bigger issue. Power steering fluid is full so it has me confused. Anyone out there have had this problem before that can be of help on the cause of the problem? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Has the fluid been changed recently? Worn out fluid will cause pump cavitation and make the steering kind of intermittent and jerky.

If the fluid is new and it's full, then I suspect the valve body that directs fluid to either side is wearing out or fluid is leaking past it in the opposite direction of the flow direction.
