Guys,
I recently replaced the rack and pinion on my 2004 dodge ram 5.7 due to the severe leak. After putting the new one on, it blew the seal again internally somewhere around the boot. Just started pooring flud. I called auto part store, they said it could be the pump somehow. Can anyone tell me what they think. I installed a new rack and pinion. Not a remanufactured. Thanks

I had a slow power steering leak for a couple years. When I took it to the shop, they told me I needed a new rack n pinion. So I bought one and installed it myself. Which was no easy job. They next day I noticed it was still leaking. But now that everything was clean and had new parts, I found that the leak was coming from the power steering fluid return line. It was a $2.00 hose and took about 5 minutes to change.

May adivce would be to cafefully powerwash the underside and inspect the lines and hoses first before wasting time and money.

That's a great idea. I will try that this weekend. Didu just buy the same size hose and cut it. Or just replace the clamps
