2002 Ram 1500, 4.7 L, 130K

I noticed the power steering has a slight fluid leak. When checking the level, I removed the cap and released a large amount of pressure. I have never seen a PS unit with a pressure build up like this before... Any ideas? Codes are clean, although, I recently cleared a P0121 TPS code by removing the sensor, cleaning contacts, as well as dis-connecting the battery.. This code showed up when I was driving in cruise and the throttle was changing, causing the OT to shift in and out of the top gear. Code has not returned.

I recently purchased the truck from a private seller.

well im no expert but i think all PS units vent some through the cap, if you could get a cap from somebody else to test it thats what i would do, before you buy one,,,
