I am looking at adding a sub to my truck I have an older pioneer head-unit with pioneer speakers. I am looking for something to fill the low end and bump a little bit but not like wake the neighbors here are some subs I am looking at feel free to give other suggestions or thoughts i just need to be able to keep the space in the cab since its a single cab and these look like the best options http://http://www.amazon.com/Infinity-Reference-Basslink-II-Subwoofer/dp/B000A6GK4E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1331254676&sr=8-2

Any of the ones listed above are not bad, the only problem I can see is when you get them, its not enough bass for you, then your stuck trying to sale those and there not to popular. Have you looked at some of the 8" subs on the market these days, that pack a really decent amount of bass, and are great for rounding off a system. Plus very little powered needed to run them and the box of course would be small.....Another option is JLs stealthbox, im not sure if they make one for your truck tho.
These are a great opion for you,

very slim mounted boxs, and you could match those to a nano amp from massive audio

Theres lots of differnet choices out there, what is your budget, what music you listen to etc?????

Basically if your running subs and depending on what ohm they are you will either need a mono 1ohm stable or 2ohm stable amp, if you buying a sub amp get your subs picked out and then buy a amp thats suited for them. If your going subs start a new thread on the ones you buy and we can help with amp selections

On components , 6x9s (everything not a sub) you will need a multi channel amp. Take me I have two sets of components in my truck, and I have them to a amp strictly dedicated for mids, a 4channel amp. There is multi ways of configuring this also amp wise, once again figure out your speakers first and buy amp to there needs....

Now if your not going all out 1500rms subs etc, you could buy a 5 channel amp, have 4 channeld dedicated to components, 6x9s etc and also have a sub channel on that amp, This setup is good for non bass heads and your just looking for a complete all around system

As far as good 6x9s etc, there is a ton of good brands, and there are better speakers to be had that are NOT alpine kenwood pioneer etc, just some of the brands I would look into are CDT , DC , DD etc, there really is a ton of good speakers out there. If you go to caraudio DOT com , those guys can really point you in a good direction , just tell them your budget and what your trying to acomplish
