When I bought my truck, the former owner had put the chrome covers on the door handles. The way I got mine off was with a cheap heat gun that I had bought at Harbor Freight. There were adhesive strips under the covers. You just have to apply a small amount of even heat to the whole cover to get it started and then pry it off using something thin and flat. I didn't want to scratch my handles, so I used a wooden Tongue Depresser like the ones in a Doctor's office. Then I bought some 3M adhesive remover and cleaned them up. After that I applied some polish used for black trim.I have an 09 and thought the same thing. I have tried the flat blade screw driver and they would not budge. I was told by another user on here that they do not come off without breaking. It seems like they should just pop off after you get the two tabs loose. :4-dontknow:
any info would be great.
