Problems with chrome door handle covers

I have an 09 and thought the same thing. I have tried the flat blade screw driver and they would not budge. I was told by another user on here that they do not come off without breaking. It seems like they should just pop off after you get the two tabs loose. :4-dontknow:

When I bought my truck, the former owner had put the chrome covers on the door handles. The way I got mine off was with a cheap heat gun that I had bought at Harbor Freight. There were adhesive strips under the covers. You just have to apply a small amount of even heat to the whole cover to get it started and then pry it off using something thin and flat. I didn't want to scratch my handles, so I used a wooden Tongue Depresser like the ones in a Doctor's office. Then I bought some 3M adhesive remover and cleaned them up. After that I applied some polish used for black trim.

I don't think the factory chrome handles are stuck on like the aftermarket covers. The body shop guy I went to said it is hollow behind the chrome and is not just a stick on cover like he also originally thought. I ended up painting mine myself. I hope this helps.

I have the chrome handles and will add in that they aren't just covers that come off. It's an actual handle and the only way to replace it is to buy the color matched handles from Mopar. You could paint of them as well, just make sure you clean them with alcohol and use an adhesion promoter. You could also put on a layer of Plasti-Dip so if you screwed up or got tired of it you could just peel it off and do it again.
