so i have a 2002 dodge ram slt 4x4 i looked under the front of my truck where the rack and pinion are and the boots have fluid all over them and are dripping a little bit i then jacked the front end up and discovered on both sides the tires had a tiny bit of play at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions but no play from the 12 and 6 positions along with this weird rubbing noise when i turn sometimes i couldnt find any play on the tie rod ends should i just cough up the dough and get a hole new rack and pinion i was planning on going for a long trip.
I also wanted some advice on locking the steering wheel and on making sure everything stays aligned when i install the new one.
