I had the same problem. Try opening the tailgate then shut it hard. Mine started working again after I did that. IF it doesn't, then call Uconnect. They even offered to help on the purchase if my truck was under 60K miles

My backup camera will beep but will no longer show the image when i am in reverse. Radio screen stays on. Any advise. Have checked the plug under the plate on the tailgate. Everything seems ok.

I just bought a 2016 bighorn 5.7hemicrew cab 18k miles.
Was at the store today , backed into spot. Everything working. Came back out of store to leave. Got home and went to the reverse into driveway and camera only showed the guide lines. Going to try all mentioned ideas and report back. Truck was garage kept and barely driven , it should have no issues.

Try opening the tailgate and then shutting it fast.,

Hey all, my back up camera suddenly stopped working just a few days ago. One hour it worked, the next hour it didn't. Haven't had a chance to take it in yet to have it looked at. When I put into reverse, I get the check surroundings message on top of a blacked out screen. Has anyone out there have this happen to them before? I have the 8.4 with GPS. Thanks in advance.

2016 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 4x2 Lone Star HEMI: Mine started acting up wobbly screen, green screen, static screen. I did a Uconnect update. Didn't help. Did the battery cable off for a couple hours. Didn't help. Checked the connections by the tailgate latch. They all looked good but I un hooked and re-hooked the connections and my Rearview camera is working now. Hope it's fixed...

I had that problem a couple years ago. I opened the tailgate and shut it quickly. Dolved the problem. I had called UCONNECT about this first and they said if that did not help, they would pay for replacement

Hey Members,
I have been having this issue too with my 2017 1500 Sport. I've read just about every post I could find and plan on disconnecting the negative battery cable and then checking all the connections noted if needed. I really think it is one of the connections by the tailgate and hope it's not the camera.

Thanks for commenting Leaks55. I will pursue Dealer assistance if all else fails. With everything I've read on this issue I think it's a connection in or around the tailgate. Last weekend I swapped out the taillights for Spyder LED's and you have to have the tailgate open to do so. When I was done the Cam came back on for a few days then cut out again.

I also have a 2017 with backup camera issues. The truck did not come with a camera, so I had the dealer install one after the first oil change. I worked for some time, then periodically would just display "camera system unavailable", then would work the next time. I brought this up to the dealership every oil change, and they played dumb, even though complaints were all over the internet. Could never replicate it when in for service. At one point they changed the camera unit itself, which worked for a couple weeks. I would estimate it works less then 10% of the time now. I have checked all connections, and disconnected the battery with no success. Now I am past the warranty, not that the dealership did much when it was under warranty. Its frustrating. If the dealership told me how long the camera would work, I never would have paid to have it installed.

After the camera not working at all for a couple of weeks, I went through and checked all the connections again. When I checked the ground wire behind the fuse box, I was able to move the wire slightly. Once I tightened that back up the camera worked again. Hopefully that was all it was.

Allison,
I am having issues with my back up camera on my 2019 Ram 2500 Cummins mega cab. We purchased new Feb 29th, 2020 and it was an issue from day one. We were told it just needed a software update, which the dealer did, but it didn’t fix it. The back up camera jumped and flickered when it was night or rainy. We took it back to the dealer, who had it for 3 weeks. They decided it was the camera, so they ordered a new one. The part came in and was a door handle (not a camera). They ordered again, this time the wrong camera came in, so they had to order yet again. Mind you, this whole time we are down to one vehicle - I find it awful customer service that a loaner is not offered. Finally, after 3 weeks, they say it’s fixed. We picked it up (broad daylight), then 2 days later we get in after dark to go to dinner and the back up camera is jumping and flickering all over the place. It was WORSE than before. We have the 360 view, and now ALL views are doing it. Then the next morning, I discovered that when you open and close a door, it jumps and flickers. It is back at the dealer for the 3rd time and they have no idea what’s wrong or how to fix it! We’ve had the truck for a little over 8 months and are pretty angry that a $75,000 vehicle is having these issues! I’m about to get an attorney involved but am reaching out to you first to see what options we have.
