Bought this 2017 1500 Laramie this week with 170000 miles. Been looking for two weeks pretty hard and found one close to what I want three hours away. Everything seems to be working as it should so far. When I got there guy told me new motor 20000 miles ago.

If I'd been told ahead of time I wouldn't own this truck. What you all think about situations like this? I don't give a second look if new tranny or engine.

What is the problem with the new engine. I would think it is better then having one with 170,000 miles on it.

Mine has almost 147,000 miles on it and nothing wrong with it but I still wouldn't mind a new engine! Lots of reasons one might have a new engine, that doesn't make it a bad truck. New engine would make a better selling point to me depending on price.

I like the truck now that I have it. It's not so much of a hard line stance as it is just a mental barrier that I stay away from. It is real easy to just skip over a truck while I'm scrolling through and look at another one. I had plenty of time. But thanks for your comments.

Now that I have it and moving forward it might be a very good choice. $19,500 for this truck was a very good buy for high mileage truck with newer engine. Hardly any rust underneath and very few dings or scratches. I added mud flaps and some accent lights for air dam. The more a type the more I'm loving it.

Thanks for the pictures. Looks like you got a good deal. That's the same color interior as mine. Hopefully you leave the chrome on it and not do the black out fad. Just my opinion.

You talking about the chrome around center console? It can be annoying with the reflecting nature of chrome. My last truck I had to paint some of it, I was fed up.

I'd be mad not being told ahead of time. But I'd also want to know the reason for the swap as well as needing proof of the new engine install. Aside from that I'd be ok with having a new engine.

A new engine is a bonus, as far as I'm concerned. If it was, and was done right.
My truck has 200k approx on it now. Even tho engine is still good, I wouldnt turn down a new one just in case!

Of course that is all true zrock but wouldn't you have wanted to know before you drive 3 hours to look at it. In hindsight I'm very glad it's got a newer engine and so far seems to be good but just wonder what else is there that I would want to know. 9am

Knowing Ram trucks and their inherent ability to eat cams/lifters for lunch, this may be the reason a new engine was required. And these failures happen at all different mileages. So it may mean that a new engine was not required because the truck was abused, and may be a very good truck otherwise
