For those of you with a Rambox who are vertically challenged: Do you find it difficult to access your bed from the side? I'm 6'4" and can barely reach into the bed of my Laramie with Rambox. I can imagine this might be an even bigger problem for shorter people?

That is a great question! I'm 5'7" and pondering upgrading in the next year or two. I really want the Rambox, but I have a hard enough time accessing my bed now without having to climb in it.

I know this isn't really that related but I tell ya....I really thought I would look like the toughest 5'8" person in the state of Maine when I got my Ram a few weeks ago..... however I look like a giant wuss when I'm standing on my tiptoes just trying to grab something out of the bed of my truck from the side...and I'm a skinny guy!!! Thank god for wheel to wheel steps!!!

Now question related.....if I had RamBoxes there is almost no way I could reach past them to get into the bed of the truck.

It can be a challenge. I'm 6'0" and I can set my chin on the Power Wagon RamBox. This would definitely help

I'm 5' 8" and I have a 2011 GMC which is one of the last trucks built with a low height compared to Ford, Ram, and the current GM trucks. It's not practical to even try to reach over the bed in my current truck. I've just always climbed in from the back to get things. I have a new Ram 1500 ordered with Rambox. I know it will be impossible to reach over but I'll have all my gear in the Ramboxes so that will be an advantage over reaching things in my cross mount toolbox. For anything in the bed, I'll access through the back as usual. Any time you trade for something different, there is a trade off in some area.

EXACTLY that, tried it out on a couple trucks with both air suspension and regular coils. Sold me on it right there, and stepping out instead of sliding off the seat wearing the edge away.

I am 5' 8" & i have issues just pulling a 6 gallon gas can out of my regular type bed from the side

Even using a DEBO Step, i am at the age where i need to use one hand to keep balance while stepping up or down

I have in a box inside the tonneau covered bed, a small 10in foldable step. This would help anyone to go all the way in the ram box. :smileup:

Wheel to wheel sidesteps sure help with reaching the bed, I love mine.

hmm, good point, but think of it this way, it's a lot easier to grab that everyday tools/items you need from the rambox than the truck bed if you didn't have one. Pros & cons I guess.

I have air/rambox and wheel to wheel steps and 5'6". To be honest I have trouble getting over any bed from the side without lowering, using side step or even standing on rearwheel. I also have hard tonneau so less reasons to access from the side. I guess I do everything from the back (which I have to jump up onto the tail gate anyway). So I guess since i have had these challenges on all pickup trucks I never really concerned myself with Rambox option.
