Hey guys, I took my truck in for an oil change today at my local Dodge dealer and they told me that something about the rear axle on my truck had been recalled. Something to do with fuel drainage..that's all I can remember from what they told me. Sorry I can't give y'all more details, but I'm wondering if y'all can help me out. Anyone else get their's recalled? Is it Ram R/T specific? What exactly is the problem? Thanks guys!

I'm not entirely sure but I think I read somewhere that it involves putting a new diff cover on to hold more oil or something like that, but I could be wrong.

Chrysler will install a pinion bearing fluid drain-back flow restrictor and a new axle cover with revised fluid fill level access hole. Will take about 1.5 hours.

I just got my recall in the mail.

I called for an appointment and they are having to order the parts. :4-dontknow: Seems to me they would send the dealers some parts when the recall notice went out so they could be ready.

to bad that they don't put a drain hole in the cover too, it would sure come in handy, especially with a magnetic drain plug

I read that the dealers received the covers from the suppliers, but they didn't get the RTV sealant with it. They are only getting something like 2 covers a month per dealership, not many considering Potential Number Of Units Affected : 60382
one of the members had an axle break due to this problem, luckily he was going slow, just leaving a parking lot
Manufacturer Campaign Number: K36 , if your curious about it

(reminds me of the bolt fiasco for the 2009 models, that i never received through the factory, it was to be a fix for some of the Hemi Tick issues, the dealers were only getting 2 kits a month back then too )

Got mine done today. In at 8:00 out at 9:00
Service department flipping out - never saw an R/T before !
Lol I know exactly what you mean, the dealership I bought my R/T from had never even seen an R/T before. They didn't even know what an R/T was until I explained it to them. Can you picture that? A 17 year old telling the salesmen about the trucks that salesmen is trained to sell!

Lol what dealers were those? My aunt's dealership(where I got mine) has had a ram R/T for every model year from 09-11, saleen 570 challenger, about 5 inaugural 392 challengers, vipers, etc. so they know they're specialty cars

I got mine at James Hodge on Paris, Texas. Wow those are some pretty sweet rides..not a lot of dealers in Texas have R/Ts though.

That's probably why, Paris is a small town so they probably don't need all the specialty models; just the standard ones. And yeah that's the good thing, less R/T in Texas means the more exclusive we seem

Yeah, so they just brought one in from Dallas. Being so rare is a good thing, and a bad thing. For instance, when my friends first saw my R/T, their first question was 'Does it have a V8?' People really don't even know what an R/T is.

Hope you showed them what a R/T can do

Getting this back on track. I went in for my recall almost three weeks ago. My truck just rolled past 4k. When I brought the Truck in they had no idea what the recall was. Well as mentioned before its a new Diff plate which allows for better flow and lubrication. The dealer didn't have the part so they had to order it. My dealer said they are on back order and Chrysler only ships out one per dealer every 14 days. Because while needing to replace ours they are putting the same cover on the new builds as well.

My truck was number 2,000 on the list three weeks ago and I am still waiting. will update when I actually get one haha. Who knows the rear end my seize by then.

Uh oh..that scares me. I really want to get mine fixed as soon as possible. Sometimes when I'm cruising, it suddenly jerks as though there's something wrong with the transmission but I'm pretty sure its this rear end that's doing it.

Funny story, my dad's 2010 1500 ST had that happen on the way to work one day. It locked up and broke the front of the rear end off. At the shop they said the nut holding the pinion in had backed off leading to the bearing wear. So yeah, I'd get it fixed ASAP.
