Does the VIN number have a code in it that tells what rear end is in my truck? If not how do I know if its open or lsd? Here's the VIN - 1D7HU18D73S317566. It's acting like an open diff.(right rear spins). Has anybody had any experience with a LockRight PowerTrax locker? That's why I want to make sure which rearend I have.

It's an open diff. Check the nom. tag on the rearend to determine the ratio. Likely a 3.92

If you look in your glove compartment there should be an options list on the door of it.

I will look for the tag. I have the window sticker from when the truck was sold new but all it had that might give a clue was tow package. Doesn't say what rear end or gear ratio. Nothing in the glove compartment. It could have been removed by previous owner.
Has anybody had any experience with the PowerTrax locker? I been looking at these on the internet. I was wondering about durability. Not really concerned about noise.

If you haven't figured out which rear end you have yet, email Chrysler and get your build sheet....tells you everything you need to know. I got mine back the same day I submitted the request. Here's the link. It will tell you what the ratio is and have "anti-spin differential" listed with the ratio if it is LSD. If it doesn't say "anti-spin differential" then your diff is open.

Also, as stated above there should be a tag (or maybe multiple tags) on your rear axle. On my 2004 I found one wrapped around the housing on the passenger side. Mine clearly says "3.92 open".

To the best of my knowledge all 3.92 rear axles of that era were Anti-Spin.

I wish but I don't think so. The build sheet on my 2006 said "3.92 ratio" and then under it "Anti-spin differential". The build sheet on my 2004 says "3.92 ratio" but nothing under it. Also, as noted above the tag on my rear end says "3.92 open".

Hmmm....that's weird. I still say get your build sheet, lol. It will tell you for certain. Or if you can't wait, call the dealer and give them the VIN....they can tell you. Just make sure you specifically ask if it says "anti-spin differential" in addition to the ratio. I will try to crawl up under mine and look again later this evening and see if I see any tags other than the one I saw the other day.
