I have read a couple of threads on this, but none of them fit my situation.

I have a 2014 Ram Sport, 2wd Hemi with 2000 miles. Around 70 mph I can feel a vibration in my seat. It is most noticeable going down hill. The original tires were balanced 3 times, and the dealer warrantied the tires. (Goodyear Wrangler 275/60/20) So with fresh tires, I drove the truck home and still had the vibration. Once home I swapped the front tires and rear tires to see if I could move the vibration to the front but no luck, still vibrating from the rear.

The dealer that I bought it from is 2.5 hours away and I have run out of ideas. Please help!

Tires are 2nd rate from the factory and dealerships. Until i got rid of the goodyear junk, truck shook terrible. Now have BFGoodrich touring TA`s (again), truck is smooth as glass. I`ve had this same issue with every 4th gen truck i`ve owned (3 of them brand new), every one of them had goodyear JUNK tires from brand new. I would tell your dealer not to replace them with the same brand, it wont fix it. (some of them are good, most aren`t, some people are so dence that they dont even realize their truck shakes) I told my dealer i wont buy the new 14 truck without BFGoodrich tires. Changed them out for me free of charge.

At this point in time with the selling dealer and your attempt to diagnosis the problem, I would take it to a local dealer. Provide the local dealer with the repair orders and explanation of your attempt. Even though you did not purchase your truck locally, the dealer will do the warranty work and will be paid by the factory. Most likely you gave the local dealer a chance at selling you a new truck, but they could not match the larger dealer 2.5 hrs away. They are obligated by the franchise agreement to perform warranty work on your truck. This is an opportunity for them to get your warranty work and service work in the future.

So, I had the shaft balance checked, the drive shaft place said it was balanced. I am out of ideas for real now.

I can take it in to a dealer, and I am sure that I will, but the local place seemed less than enthused about helping me work through the issue, since they didn't sell me the truck...

I am going to try to get a different set of wheels from a buddy, not sure if his ram is 5 lug or not.

Had the same issue a couple of years ago on my Challenger. Turned out it was those damn clips used to hold the rear rotors on one of my rear wheels. The rotor wasn't on square to the hub. Threw the clips away and tightened the lugs in the proper sequence and torque. Difference was night and day to me and I'm one picky SOB! Just a possibility.

Though not entirely impossible (about the clips on car wheels), the truck wheels have ALOT more clearance to clear those clips in the lug hole area of the wheels. Not likely that is his problem. I`m still bettin my money that its the "BADYEAR" tires.

You may want to ask the dealership if this TSB applies to your truck:

TSB #: 16-001-14
Issued: 08/28/2014

Vehicles:
2014 DS <---- this is the Ram 1500
2014 DX
2014 JK

Description: High Speed Vibration Coming From The Rear Of The
Vehicle.

Good luck!

So, to update everyone, I took the truck back to the dealer and opened a case with the Chrysler Customer care guys. Dealer said that they couldn't duplicate the vib... So I went over there and took the shop manager for a ride. He felt it but didn't seemed concerned. Next we drove a demo ram that had the same vib. This was their way of making me feel like it was a "design" issue and writing me off. Today I took the truck to Discount Tire to have the wheels road force balanced and that also did not help. Right now I have cases with both Chrysler and Goodyear. I think its the tires too, but I don't want to drop $6-800 to see if that's the issue or not... I will try and get ahold of that service bulletin and see what it says maybe take it to a different dealer. If anyone has any other input I am open.
Thanks to everyone!

PS I cannot find that TSB online, not sure where to look.

I just found this on a different post. Says the tires get flat spotted but will go back round after 10-20 miles on hwy. This did not work in my case. The bulletin is SB-22-001-09.

2009 Dodge Truck RAM 1500 2WD V8-5.7L

Vehicle Level Technical Service Bulletins All Technical Service Bulletins Wheels/Tires - Vehicle Vibration/Shake At Highway Speed Wheels/Tires - Vehicle Vibration/Shake At Highway SpeedNotesNUMBER: 22-001-09
GROUP:
Wheels/Tires
DATE: Pending Approval
SUBJECT:
Vehicle Vibration Or Shake At Highway Speed
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin provides information to diagnose vehicle vibration concerns at or during PDI or if the vehicle is stored for a length of time prior to delivery.
MODELS:
2009 (DS) Ram Truck (1500)
DISCUSSION:
Tires used on the 1500 Ram models can develop a temporary flat spot when sitting on the lots and or while being shipped. This condition is more prevalent on 4 x 4 Models with 20" tires and wheels due the additional weight on the front tires from the unique components (i.e., front axle and transfer case). Weather is a critical factor and temperatures significantly above and below normal temperatures can temporarily "flat spot tires when vehicles are shipped by car hauler or rail or if vehicles are stored for an extended period. The vibration may be felt in the steering wheel and I or seat, and may be most noticeable at highway speeds, 60mph (96 kph). This may be misinterpreted as an out of balance
tire.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the tires are flat-spotted due to shipping or sitting in the lot for an extended period, the vehicle vibration will go away after the tires are warmed up, (normally 10 to 20 miles of highway driving depending on outside temperatures).
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1.Road test vehicle 10-20 miles to allow the tires to obtain operating temperature.
2.If highway driving doesn't resolve the vehicle vibration, follow the procedures outlined on DealerCONNECT>TechCONNECT > Group 22 - Tires and Wheels.
NOTE :Replacing tires should only be done as a last resort after all appropriate wheel and tire diagnostics have been completed. U.S.
dealers can contact the MOPAR tire program if assistance is needed with obtaining any tire. Canadian dealers can contact the MOPAR tire program if assistance is needed with obtaining any tire.
POLICY:
Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.

I traded in my stock Goodyears for Michelin LTX MS2's. Getting them put on Tuesday 11-4-2014. As we were talking the tire guy said he had 4 sets of Goodyear's setting there. It seems RAM, as do other manufactures, tells Goodyear to make tires to "RAM'S" specs, which cost about $30 per less tire than the same Goodyear tire you would buy from Goodyear. No wonder some tires wobble, shake or shimmy. I've had Michelin's before with zero problems(knock on wood) so I hope these turn out the same.

Goodyears off.......Michelins on. Just drove it 12 miles, much smoother, no little bumps, more stable in corners. Glad I switched them.

local dealer

don't put with any guff from that local dealer. Inform him he will work on your truck and he had better convince YOU he did a better than if he had sold it to you, or you are going to both your state AG and Chrysler Corp about it. You are tired of his small town attitude.

Go on to inform him, if he had half a brain, he too would use blow out pricing, just to sell cars, to get customers for his service dept, where the real money is made.

Guy is a goofball. Most dealers make more money, after the 'sale', in the finance dept or after market dept, than the ever do on the cars selling price, itself. Credit LIfe, Accident and Health. GAP Insurance, service contracts, padding the loan APR by a couple percentage points over the Banks "Buy" Rate, to the dealership. The really smart dealers will give first few oil changes "Free" just to get you used to, and comfortable with, their service dept, since humans tend to be creatures of habit.

Not to mention, the profit from selling Interior protection, Paint sealant, Under coating, Rust Proofing, running boards, remote starts, toppers, Floor Mats, Mud Flaps, etc, etc.

Let him just how inept he truly is, while you force him to fix your car. Take those thumb screws he has tried to place , on you, and put them on his own sensitive anatomy.

Good Luck

Dave

Ok, well you're not alone! I have a 2014 Ram, Big Horn with a 5.7L hemi. Also has 4x4 and is a crew cab model. My dealer is 1 !/2 hours away through the D.C. and Beltway traffic! So here is what they did to my Ram 1500. Changed tires front to back, no go. Balanced rear tires, no go. Balanced all tires, no go. Crossed tires and replaced one front tire that seemed weird in balancing mode, no go. Replaced rear drive shaft, no-go. After 2 days of this I went home! NOW, Chrysler tells the dealer to change out the rear rotors..... if no go, disable the 8 to 4 cylinder mode device and road test. Supposedly they have a lot of trouble with this item. So now I wait for the rotors to come in and receive notification to come back for install.

Truck had 23 miles on it when I took delivery. Now has just over 1,000. It's been about 2 months now since purchase. I hate going in for service but for a list price of $44,005 it should ride like you're on a cloud!

I mentioned shocks, bent cross member and or frame....drive shaft angle too. My truck was damaged during off loading which I didn't know until just before signing the final paper work. Cute, eh? Oh well. Oh yes, it has non-slip rear axle and selectable tow/sway mode. Tried them, no difference. All vibration feels like a shimmy between 50 and 70 mph. Never went faster. Woe is me!

Bumping this thread back up...did you guys get this resolved? I have a slight shimmy between 65-70 mph in the rear end. Steering wheel is rock steady. Have not had the Badyear tires re-balanced yet!

I think you can disable the 8 to 4 mode by manually dropping your tranny from regular drive to 8. For me that doesn't make a difference. I've had driveshaft replaced, road force balance and still no different. Last balance one wheel took an ounce. I think it is the tires but can't afford new tires to find out.

Good to know, as mine since new shakes like OP- driveline shake at 60mph which gets worst at 65mph. Felt in seats and floorpan but not in the steering wheel. Currently have 770 miles on ODO. So tempted to get some new wheels, I was originally blaming the chrome clad rims.
