Is there a source for these somewhere that might be a bit less expensive. Seems to me that ~$100 is a bit steep. Maybe I'm wrong...

Hmmm, nice idea there... I wonder how difficult it'd be.

TH Marine makes quality stuff and perko is the standard for aftermarket pulls. those lock bars may go deeper than you are lookin for so you may have to modify them a bit but the lock and the action is really what you're after. I say get the th marine as long as they aren't too large in diameter for the application

Genos Garage has them for $45 for one and $85 for both sides.

Thanks, I took a look, it seems there's might be better as it's metal on metal locking... More work to install, but seems simple enough. Still though, $85.00 is a tad high for some locks... just my opinion.
