Rear Parking assist install,l

I bought a '14 Laramie and although it has the back up camera, I find the only time I use it is for backing up under a trailer. I would really like to have the rear parking assist. After talking with two dealerships, I have come to the conclusion they are at minimum, uninformed on their product as one said it cannot be done and the other quoted me over $1K to install 4 sensors and connect the wiring. Even if I were to pay the $1K+, they said that it wouldn't be like the 'factory' installed system and couldn't tie into the existing system. I have the Uconnect, back up camera, etc.

I must be missing something. I would like my truck to be as close to 'factory' as possible and don't want additional LED's and Speakers...Hell, I can do that for around $2 hundred bucks.

Anyone have any solutions? I am thinking the dealerships around my location are lacking, in a lot of areas.

I don't see why they couldn't tie it in to the existing system, but I'm not too well versed on the more fancy options like that since I don't have them. Most of the cost is probably going to be the new bumper.
I can take a hole punch, drill the four holes and install the sensors. My issue is locating a tie in connection and updating the CPU if it is possible. It seems as if the service writers are speaking about a different truck...I have every bell and whistle EXCEPT the park assist...just frustrating. I would think it should be a "plug and play" type system. Write the software for all and use what you need, that way if an upgrade is requested, all that would have to be added is hardware. Still hoping...
I'm surprised a Laramie didn't have that. My big horn has it.
It's not standard on the Laramie, nor the lone star or big horn. When I ordered my 2014 Laramie 1500, I specifically did not add the parking assist option.

I knew it was not standard. I was just surprised it wasn't on there. I'm guess I'm just used to old mystro posting about the Laramie.
That was kinda my thoughts on it, apparently most have it already installed, therefore one would think the addition of it shouldn't be too much of an issue.
Talked with dealer/Service manager today. Showed him the parts list, wiring diagram, etc. He is now going to contact engineering to see if it is installed, if the system supports it. Kind of hard for me to understand why, a system that has everything else wouldn't support the rear park assist...Did Ram create a system that is unique to each vehicle? I am hoping that the CPU/user interface will accept the OEM parts and recognize it. Amazed that you cannot add on OEM parts that should be supported by the operating systems and the only answer I can get is 'maybe'
Possibly I am looking at this in the wrong way, If I buy a computer and decide to change the printer or add a camera, all I have to do is install a driver for it to recognize the hardware. Don't understand Ram if they install different operating systems for each vehicle. In my humble opinion, wouldn't it make more sense to install the same OS and just disable the features not used?
Again...Will update with more details when and if I get a good answer. Push come to shove, I'll put in an aftermarket system for 80% of the price the dealer has so far proposed.
Thx

Can't just get rear park assist. It has to be the whole system, front & rear. It shows 3 modules, interior switches, relays, fuse, wiring harnesses. It's actually a fairly large set up. Those prices don't seem unreasonable from what I can see from looking at the techauthority wiring web site.

If it didn't come equipped from factory, it appears to be a headache for a DIY job. If you get it done, the sales code will need to be added to the VIN. Should be XAGP ParkSense FT/RR Park Assist System
ok, I hope I can be some help on this so maybe somebody can help me.

1. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-OEM-Mop...Kit-/151187726728?hash=item23337da188&vxp=mtr
2. You need to check for the harness under the bumpers to tie this into.
3. You will need to have the powernet cpu updated at the dealership with the flash code that comes in the instructions.
4. If you don't have the harness, fear not, you can buy a body harness or rear harness and tie into what you have, but its a lot of crap to replace.
5. Dash module is needed- I don't have that number now, but I can get it, so you have the two buttons in the dash you can turn on and off the parking distance control. I have one if you really have every other option, I may be wiling to trade.

What I am currently doing is I have a sport RT - came with heated seats, leather and cloth, power drivers only. I got all leather brand new seats from a 2014 Laramie Eco Diesel, I have vented front seats, heated front and rear, and the trailer option brake was added. heated steering wheel I already had. I replaced all the seats and the entire console harness so I now have heated rear seat buttons. I then replaced the module in the dash with every freaking button, but parking doesn't work as I don't have that installed. I had to replace my entire body harness, or most of it as I had no rear power for rear heated seats and I didn't have the correct pin configuration behind the dash module to recognize all those buttons. From there once I had power and network wires everywhere the fun began getting the right codes in the computer. Currently I am still awaiting the codes for the vented seats, my BCM wont take them for some reason and I am now looking into either a whole new BCM or a call to Dodge engineering. My dealership was willing to learn with me on this project.

So, if you have all the buttons you want but not parking distance, I have all the buttons as well, and never plan on using parking distance. I don't know the value of the modules as I bought the whole kit from a guy in Detroit that sells parted out Rams after testing and beta trucks. This is not a project for the faint of heart but its really nice to have options that cost 60K+ on a truck I only paid 45K for, but I would never do this again- hell no, special order the right truck and lease it. Hope that helps!

PS- selling all the nearly new seats :) all black, like new, truck has 1200 miles on it.

Did you ever get the parksenses installed?
I know there was a issue the sensors not being in stock during manufacturing and many trucks couldn't get the park sensors for a period of time. I don't think I have seen a Laramie in the wild without them in my area. Between the rear camera and front/rear park sensors, you almost can't hit any thing. Mine always go off as I pull into my garage when anything is too close to the sides of the truck as well as front and rear.

I see quite a few (including my Laramie) that don't have park assist around me.

But after looking a few places it seems that after the fact the only thing you can do is get the factory sensors mounted in the bumpers and then mount this little box inside the cab, it looks hideous and I really wanted to add park assist but I'll only do it if it will function completely factory.

You can add the trailer brake controller afterwards and it works just like it would from the factory, why not park assist?
So has anyone ever figured this out and got the factory parksense sensors installed and working with uconnect or is it a lost cause...?
May not look like original, but there are after market systems for a "whole lot" cheaper that would do the same thing and if you're handy, DIY install.

My Laramie came with just the rear park assist.
