I don't see why they couldn't tie it in to the existing system, but I'm not too well versed on the more fancy options like that since I don't have them. Most of the cost is probably going to be the new bumper.
I knew it was not standard. I was just surprised it wasn't on there. I'm guess I'm just used to old mystro posting about the Laramie. It's not standard on the Laramie, nor the lone star or big horn. When I ordered my 2014 Laramie 1500, I specifically did not add the parking assist option.
Did you ever get the parksenses installed?Talked with dealer/Service manager today. Showed him the parts list, wiring diagram, etc. He is now going to contact engineering to see if it is installed, if the system supports it. Kind of hard for me to understand why, a system that has everything else wouldn't support the rear park assist...Did Ram create a system that is unique to each vehicle? I am hoping that the CPU/user interface will accept the OEM parts and recognize it. Amazed that you cannot add on OEM parts that should be supported by the operating systems and the only answer I can get is 'maybe'
Possibly I am looking at this in the wrong way, If I buy a computer and decide to change the printer or add a camera, all I have to do is install a driver for it to recognize the hardware. Don't understand Ram if they install different operating systems for each vehicle. In my humble opinion, wouldn't it make more sense to install the same OS and just disable the features not used?
Again...Will update with more details when and if I get a good answer. Push come to shove, I'll put in an aftermarket system for 80% of the price the dealer has so far proposed.
Thx
I see quite a few (including my Laramie) that don't have park assist around me.I know there was a issue the sensors not being in stock during manufacturing and many trucks couldn't get the park sensors for a period of time. I don't think I have seen a Laramie in the wild without them in my area. Between the rear camera and front/rear park sensors, you almost can't hit any thing. Mine always go off as I pull into my garage when anything is too close to the sides of the truck as well as front and rear.

My Laramie came with just the rear park assist. Can't just get rear park assist. It has to be the whole system, front & rear. It shows 3 modules, interior switches, relays, fuse, wiring harnesses. It's actually a fairly large set up. Those prices don't seem unreasonable from what I can see from looking at the techauthority wiring web site.
If it didn't come equipped from factory, it appears to be a headache for a DIY job. If you get it done, the sales code will need to be added to the VIN. Should be XAGP ParkSense FT/RR Park Assist System
