Tire recall has been on the tv news

I remember reading here on the forumZ, several members have purchased the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor tires
The Light truck, Van, & SUV tires, Goodyear recalls Wrangler Silent Armor tires, are falling apart & have been recalled

NEW YORK - Goodyear is recalling six versions of its Wrangler Silent Armor tires over concerns that the tread could separate from the tire and cause accidents.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. said Saturday that the separation could happen under what it called "severe usage conditions." Goodyear says the separated tread could strike the car and damage it or cause a tire failure.

Goodyear says the recall affects about 40,000 tires made in 2009, including 27,000 in service. It says it will replace the recalled tires with new ones.

The tires are designed for trucks, vans and SUVs. Goodyear says it will notify owners and replace the tires for free. The recall will start by March 22.

This is why I never buy Badyear's. Looks like 09 was indeed a bad year.

I had Firestone recall their tires on my wife's Excursion a couple weeks before I was going to replace them (50,000 miles). Was nice to get 5 new tires for free. Ran those up over 100K and traded them in with the truck!

We outfitted 30 percent of our pickups and this tire was on the state contract. the tire only lasted about 30000 miles. I just got rid of a set they were junk. Vibrations like crazy.

Are these the factory OEM tires? or are these replacement tires?

I've got the factory GoodYear Wrangler (not sure which specific model).

had a set on my last truck and didnt like them at all. went out of balance to easily and wore out unevenly. was really disappointed with those tirea, they went with the truck when i traded it in. maybe i got a bad batch but i liked the tread, found out after i bought them that they can dig a nice hole as oppose to pulling you out of the mud or snow.

Mine only lasted about 25k miles on them, rode nice for about 5k miles then they just got plain awful on my 09 . They would flat spot in 90+ degree weather and wobble till warmed up. Last 10k miles they were loud and developed some feathering. Does good year give you a replacement since some of already replaced them cause they were crap? I don't have them anymore, are they checking s/n's off the truck? I replaced them with some general Eco grabbers and they've done rather well the last 10k miles, very quiet tires and handle rain very well. They don't like heavy snow though but that's a given with the tread they have.
