I am considering purchasing a regular cab 3.6 SLT. Just wanting to get thoughts on this from people who own this model. I drive 100 miles a day, and need to get a bit better mileage than what I am getting with my F150. I currently own a 2013 FX2 Supercrew with the 5.0L. I have driven the regular cab Ram with the 3.6 and it feels nearly as quick as my crew cab with the V8. What I am mostly concerned about is the mileage. I currently top out averaging about 18 miles per gallon. I would love to think with the weight difference of the regular can that I could average 23 with the 3.6 in the Ram. What do you folks think? Am I being realistic or just dreaming? I drive about 80 percent highway 100 miles a day.

Make certain it fits you. My dad just bought a Silverado RC W/T 8' bed. I'm only 5' 11" and I sure didn't fit, needs more legroom, or driving my Ram has ruined me. I'll bet a Quad Cab will get equal mpg highway driving. My dealer had very few regular cab Rams and would sell a QC for less, also. Driving that many miles, you should try out an Ecodiesel.

I have thought about the Ecodiesel, but with the price of diesel plus the upfront costs it just does not seem to add up. If I was towing often I think it would be cost effective. The regular cab is pretty comfortable for me and I am 6'2. I have considered a quad cab, but the 3.6 just didn't feel nearly as happy with the weight of it, so it seemed to make more since to get the regular cab. I am not totally sold on it, and have about 17k in equity in the ford with the dealer offering me 30 for it, so I can afford to move up to the quad cab if needed, but I just want to know if the mpg numbers will add up.

I love my regular cab Big Horn. I have had 5 quad cabs and really do not use or need the space of the quad cabs so this time I bought the regular cab with the 3.6 V-6.

I average right around 20 MPG in town where my quad cabs were lucky to get 13 MPG in town.

The 3.6 V-6 with the 8 speed transmission is a great combo.

Thanks for the reply! Do you think you would do much better than the 20 mpg that you are seeing if you were doing much highway driving?

I own a crew cab outdoorsman with 20" wheels and A/T tires and I average 21-22mpg with 80% highway driving. With a regular cab you should do better. I don't think you will be disappointed at all if you get one. You will certainly get better than 18mpg. I know what you mean by the V6 with 8speed feeling quicker than your current V8. I had a 2011 silverado before my current ram and I think the pentastar 8-speed combo feels just as quick if not quicker than my silverado V8 did

I am getting 11.6l/100km right now with lots of city driving. I am averaging about 10.x on longer drives. Mine is CC 4x4 offroad tires, 3.6.
So averaging 20mpg in GTA traffic every day on the QEW and 403 is excellent :)

I upgraded from a '03 QC 3.9 Dakota .
and OMG the 3.6/8-spd is AWESOME!

IF you stick with 3.21's then yu will have NO PROBLEM beating 20 mpg..
unless you are going over 75mph ..

my truck gets approx 26mpg at 58mph, 24 @63, [email protected] 68, 20 @73 ...

Mebbe a little better now that temps have warmed up and winter gas is gone

Well I bought the truck on Memorial day. It is a regular cab 3.6L 8 speed. The only option that it had was the 8.4AN. Pretty much exactly what I wanted. I love the truck so far, but I am not sure about the mileage yet. I filled it at right about a half tank and hand calculated out to 20.55mpg, EVIC showed 24.5 This was after 80 percent highway driving. Now this was a dealer filled tank, so I am not sure how much idling happened during cleanup and delivery. I also filled it back up on a slight hill, so I am hoping this was not what I will have to expect. But all in all I really love the truck so far, and will deal with the mileage whatever it ends up being. The sticker on the truck was MSRP $30,970. I bought it for 23600 out the door. I ended up financing $7000 after my trade. Payment is only 126.00 a month for 60 months. I plan to pay it off in a year.

congrats op, pics??????

No pics yet. Not much to show compared to some of the trucks on this site. Just a deep cherry SLT regular cab. I have added step bars, receiver hitch, bedliner, and tint. I want to get the oem rubber mats, but cant seem to locate any for the regular cab. I am also considering Katzkin leather. I have the brown interior and love it. Loving the truck.
