I was doing a tire rotation earlier today and I noticed some play (saw it moving) in the inner boot. The outer tie rods don't move, its only the long rubber boot that moves. THis would explain why my steering would feel a bit loose when driving on gravel or grass. Those were the only symptoms I have.

So do I have to replace the whole steering rack or is there an aftermarket part # so I can replace just the inner tie rods. I noticed on the Ram factory part numbers that it was only the rack that could be replaced.

Well ?

2005 80,000 miles /4x4/4Door
night temps of 20F
First of any type of leak
Just after installing new tires (stock size) Cooper ZEON LTZ
re-filled with Lucas StopLeak last week

I will start with the 8 inch rubber line & SS hose clamps
BUT.....
Tire shop said "its the rack"

So,,,,,,, what is the answer to the above?
Is there an after-market answer? (rack)

thankyou

I would just replace the whole rack, its ALOT less labor intensive. You will pay more for the part, but you will save on labor. if you are DIY, I would pay more for the part just so i didnt have to screw with it.
