Even though the tire on my 2011 looks like a full size tire, its is not. In fact it say for temporary use only. What i did is buy another 20" rim off ebay for $200 and had mounted and balanced with a real tire 275 60 r 20. The only modification you need to make is removing the fake chrome off the rim so the spare tire holder fits through the rim. Once thats done it fits perfectly. Now that I have larger tires (275 65 r20) I need to find out if the 1" larger tire fits underneath...

How did you get the chrome clad off???

The Chrome Clad is essentially held on using double sided foam tape. Carefully pry off making sure not to damage the surface of the rim. I know several guys here that removed the Clad form all their rims and had them either dipped, wrapped, or powder coated.

Once you got the chrome clad off, was the metal piece able to get through the center hole so it could be lifted up?

I haven't tried it yet, as I haven't found a decent enough rim to use as my spare since I intend to use it full time and do 5 tire rotations.

Then I'm guessing cutting down the metal piece could be an option too.
