Can someone please tell me where the exhaust resonators are located? A pic would be great. Are they right behind the tips? Or are they more toward the motor?

Want to do exhaust without deleting them but all kits look like they come with straight pipe. Is it ok to leave them if the kit doesn't have them according to install?

The resonators are located just forward of the rear tips, if you are changing to a cat back system you will be removing the stock system from the muffler back and replacing with your kit. If you are just replacing the muffler or doing a muffler delete then you will re use the stock tail pipe with resonators.

Is there any downside to just replacing the muffler? Also thinking of CAI. Will just doing muffler replacement impact the CAI?

If you want to just replace the muffler then you are going to have to go with something from Mufflex, they make various sizes of replacement mufflers that bolt right on, no welding. A CAI will not effect the muffler or vice versa, if anything it will maybe make the exhaust a tad bit louder as it will be pulling in more air. The stock air box on these trucks are very good, unless you really want to hear your engine pulling in more air I would spend the money on something else...........just my 2 cents.

I just ordered a Flowmaster Series 40 muffler. I'm going to be replacing the muffler and removing the resonators to add a deeper throatier sound.
