I currently have a RER installed in my 2010 Ram; I just bought a RHR and the OEM B/U camera out of 2012 Ram.
I know I will have to do something with my antenna as I need either a dual satellite antenna or a splitter that combines the Sirius antenna and a GPS antenna.

Here are my questions:

1. What is the proper dual band antenna P/N for my truck and will I have to run a whole new antenna wire or does the old wiring connects to the new antenna just above the head liner.

2. Did anybody use one of those splitters?

Just wondering if it degrades the performance of the GPS or Sirius radio.

3. Since the RHR and B/U camera came from a the same truck (installed at the factory) will I need to go to the dealer to get the camera activated? I guess what I am getting to is if the radio just gets programmed (which it should be) or does some module in my truck needs programming.

Thanks!

No, it didn't come with the camera, It actually came with the RBZ and I installed the RER because I couldn't find a reasonably priced RHR at the time. I want the Sirius Travel Link so now I bought a RHR, besides that feature they are really the same.

Hopefully somebody chimes in and we both get an answer!

I can't tell you for sure about the antennas
The back up camera may have to be flashed to the vehicle

so i am no help & the notes that i have made are back home in California & i am in Connecticut on my annual vacation

My guess would be they will have to flash the truck so when you put it in reverse it will bring up the camera. I would think that should be it since you are getting a radio and camera that were together.

Wow I would have thought the Laramie would have come with a backup camera. I upgraded to the RBZ so I could have the backup camera and Bluetooth audio streaming. Now I'm upgrading to the RHR for the nav because my stupid phone is about dead after 45 minutes of GPS running. My RHR should be here Monday.

Not for sure yet. My guess is I will have to get the separate GPS antenna since my truck came with the RES with the Sirius radio. I'm also hoping my stand alone mic will plug into the radio without needing an adapter since I added the external Uconnect kit.

If you get a separate GPS antenna you will need a splitter because unlike the RER the RHR has only two antenna connections. One for AM/FM the other one for Sirius and GPS combined.

For the Uconnect you need the Mopar jumper cable because the RHR has built in Uconnect.

Oh wow that sucks. There are to many radios that are so similar to try and remember which one has which features and so forth. I contacted Benny at the Mopar vendor and he said it might work but I think he was getting a little confused with some of this stuff also.

I also hope I can get the Uconnect from behind the dash once I take the RBZ out, without having to take the whole dash off or getting dealership to do it.

I hope that is the case, save me some extra money. I have taken the lower glove box out before when I did the cabin air filter mod so hopefully I will be able to do it all other than the flashing and a jumper harness. Maybe the dealership will meet or beat that price so when you get everything flashed you will be good to go.
Thanks for info and help Hans, I will let you know how it goes when I start messing with it. It will probably be closer to next weekend since the dealership is about 40 minutes away.

Same here, I hope to tackle this next weekend. By then I should have the RHR and my antenna. I still have to figure out the wiring harness for the camera; I haven't looked yet but maybe I am lucky and the harness is already there From the rear to the head unit).

Then I will sell the RER to recoup some of the cost.

do you have a price in mind if you sell your other unit?

Yea, I'm hoping I can sell my RBZ and the Uconnect module pretty easy and quick to help recoup what I have spent on the RHR unit and as for the dealership flashing I have some money earned on (dealership card) to pay for whatever they do.
Unless they are nice again and don't charge me for it.

Well my RER unit came in finally after sightseeing the US (went from Texas to Illinois, 5 day trip and from Illinois to North Carolina , 1 1/2 days). I took the radio bezel off last night and pulled the RBZ out so I could look at the back and see what all the plugs were like. Now looking at the RER it looks like all I will need is the GPS antenna (hopefully). The uconnect mic looks like it will be fine.
I'm not to sure about how to get the uconnect module from behind the lower glove box. I see the module but not sure where all the cable run and so forth.

Yes, all you need is a seperate GPS antenna. I have mine on top of the dash, right in front of the windshield. You don't have to remove the uconnect module....just unplug one connector and install the jumper harness (comes with instructions).

My RHR and new antenna should have arrived today; that'll give me something to do on Saturday. After that my RER goes up for sale, I'll try here first and then eBay.
