Looking at changing my ratio to a 4.27. I found a calculation to use when choosing, which is:

Current Tire Size x Current Ratio
__________________________ = New Gear Ratio
Stock Tire Size

Has anyone used this calculation before to choose new gearing?

Mine came out to needing a 4.28xxxx. I found a Omix-ADA Dana 44 CJ/SJ 4.27 Ratio Ring and Pinion from 4WheelParts.

Any thoughts on this type of gearing? Anything else I should take into consideration?

Thanks in advance.

Don't you have a 11.5 Chrysler/AAM rear axle? Available gears are 4:10, 4:30, 4:44 and 4:56.
