I recently installed aftermarket electric windows, and have tapped into both a line which is powered only when the on switch is engaged, and one that is powered only when the car is running.

the first, worked for a split second, then did not, as it seemed to not supply enough power. The second, works, but is pretty weak. When I installed I ran directly to the battery for testing, and it worked better.

I would like to run a dedicated power wire that is only engaged when the car is switched on, but do not know where to start.

What do I need to buy and do?

Thanks

You need to set up a relay circuit and use something that make sense to control the relay. For example you could use the ingition circuit to control it so that when the ignition is engaged and has power, you have a direct connection to the battery that is now engaged and is powering your windows.

I hope that makes sense, my explaining skills are lacking tonight
