I've got a 2017 Ram 1500 Hemi with 7500 miles. Haven't had any issues other than noisy brakes (still not fixed)

I just got a Service Electronic Throttle Control message along with a check engine light and the truck would hardly idle. I didn't attempt to drive it.

I plan on calling the dealer tomorrow, but i was curious if
anyone had this issue before? If so, let me know what happened.

Thank You
Brian

Dealer was apathetic and did me a "favor" by getting me in Saturday. So in the mean time I have a $50k truck that I can't drive.

What did they do to your truck when you took it for service?
They said that the throttle position sensor was bad. They had to order the part and I take it in tomorrow to have them install it.

Again they said the brakes were operating as usual. Which is nonsense because they screech, groan, etc when its cold or wet outside.

I noticed the same thing tonight. Raining pretty hard in NJ but the brakes are squeaking very loudly. 9k on my truck. I am very interested in the fix for this. Sorry don't mean to hijack this tread

Hi Rush21122,

As mentioned to jryanor, you're more than welcome to send us a direct message if you'd like to work with your Ram dealer. We can certainly create a case and forward your inquiry to a Case Specialist for handling.

Hey all. First time poster. Responding to the original post. I have a 2017 EcoDiesel. With 1400 miles, I got the Check engine light and service electronic throttle control lightning bolt. This happened on New years day (1/1/18). The truck has been in the shop since, which is now going on over 6 weeks. I limped it 300 miles home from a snowmobile trip with trailer which was a nightmare, but I couldn't get a tow on new years day in the middle of nowhere. I was just praying it wouldn't flash and shut down as it was 0F out. Not the worry I want with a brand new 64k sticker on a 1/2 ton truck.
Anyway, the dealer cleared codes and the mechanic drove it home that night to test it. It threw the codes over and over again. They told me Chrysler engineering told them not to work on the truck anymore and wait for guidance. Well 6 weeks later, I'm no closer to a fix. I've been told there is a software update written but it has to be validated and test. I've been told that for last 4 weeks and they really have no idea if/when it will be released. I do have a loaner, but I really would rather drive the almost $65,000 truck I paid for.
I started a case with a Chrysler rep and started talking about lemon law/buyback. However, the rep hasn't returned my calls/messages for past 2-3 weeks. I call the dealer and everyone is always "in a meeting" and never call back. I have to drive 45 minutes to the dealer to actually talk to anyone. When I do, it's just typical dealership talk about how they are as angry as I am, want to fix it, and will take care of me. Well after 6 weeks I have lost faith. Even if this software comes out, I don't have faith this will be a good fix and will have to worry every time it gets cold out that this will happen again. Reading online, it sounds like this is a cold weather problem, specifically when it gets below 10F. Also, every solution that people have gotten to this problem has been different. There literally seems to be hundreds of fixes for the same problem. What works for person A doesn't seem to work for person B. Completely random, which makes it even less likely to find a permanent solution.
Wondering if others have had this problem and worked out a buyback? I really don't want this truck anymore. I asked the dealer if they would work out a deal with me, and I would take a Hemi in trade. Well their solution is basically to take my EcoDiesel on trade like any other person and bury my 7k loss in the numbers, make the payments the same, and hope I don't notice I'm losing 7k on a 3 month old truck with 1400 miles. Unreal. It's insulting. I hate to do lemon law because I've heard of nightmares of paperwork and 6 months of BS and then nothing happening. I did contact a lawyer so I think that will help, I think some people are trying this alone and getting jerked around.
So any suggestions? I really just want a new truck. The loaner they gave me has the HEMI and it really isn't as bad on gas as I thought. I'm willing to go with RAM again if they can get me into a new truck with minimal loss and hassle. I've been very patient and understanding for past 6 weeks, but I feel like they are taking advantage at this point. They actually wanted me to take my truck back home because they wanted their loaner back. Their solution was that it's getting warmer now and as long as i stayed about 10F I shouldn't throw another code. I said sure, if you sign something saying that if I do get a code 400 miles away from home again then they will send someone to rescue me with a loaner and they deal with the broken down truck on side of road in the subzero temps. Crickets.
Any ideas? This is my second dodge product with problems. Last one was in 2010 and the dealership (different GM) literally told me he was taking the truck back and gave me 100% of money back even though I wanted to try and keep fixing it. Now that was customer service, wish this guy was still around. I would give the dealership and FCA -10 on the customer service scale on this problem. Sorry for the rant, but looking for solutions/advice.

Yah I guess that's why he hasn't called me back in almost 3 weeks. I didn't mention lemon law in a threatening manner. Unlike them, I'm just trying to be honest. I told him that unless I get some action rather than empty promises I was going to look into my options, including lemon law. Guess that was enough to have them stop helping me.

The attorney told me that in Illinois, the lemon law states "a reasonable amount of time or reasonable amount of attempts to fix the problem." who decides reasonable is the question, guess the judge. However, lawyer told me that he considers 6 weeks reasonable and I would have a good case, especially since the dealer has admitted they have no time frame on when a fix would be coming.

Again, I would rather get the truck fixed, I do love the truck except the fact that I haven't seen it in 6 weeks. I would rather work out a deal and take an 2017 or 18 HEMI in the same trim (Limited or Longhorn) which has about the same sticker price. If they can make that happen I would be happy. I'm not going to take a 2018 Longhorn that has a sticker price 7-8k below mine for the same payments, which is what they have hinted at, nothing official yet. Guess they are testing the waters to see how dumb I am....

Can someone from RamCares contact me? I can't send a private message because I am new on this forum. Trying to get some help for the issue I mentioned in the above post. My truck has been in the shop for 7 weeks and I have not had one bit of help from FCA or my dealer.

I would love to send you a message but have not posted enough to do so. It's been too 2 different dealerships and was basically blown off by the first one with less that 2k miles on my truck. the second one can't seem to recreate the problem. Now it has 10k on it. Squalls almost everytime you use the brakes.

I just had this issue yesterday and I called Ram customer “assistance” number and the lady tells me that it’s probably not covered under the warranty! How the hell that happens I have no idea. It’s not like popped the hood and started cutting wires or something ?.
