I would say the Haynes Automotive Repair Manual for your '96 Dodge Ram 1500. It's well-regarded for step-by-step guidance and clear wiring diagrams. I have used it myself, and it’s saved me a lot of time on repairs. Also, you can look out for AllDataDIY great for factory service info and wiring schematics if you want something digital.

 

I have got the same truck and the Haynes manual is definitely a solid choice for most DIY repairs. I would say Chilton is if you are looking for a slightly different perspective or more detailed breakdowns. If you are tackling electrical work factory service manuals are a must for accuracy and AllDataDIY like Denver mentioned is excellent for that. Make sure to cross-reference wiring diagrams when doing any mods or fixes small errors can lead to big headaches later.
