OKAY! So, I have always been taught true duals are the way to go. I had a 2001 5.9 liter and I went dual 3 inch and lost torque for sure. I figured i went too big, and that motor wasn't very fast. So this motor is stronger, so I figure if I go dual 2 1/2 with x pipe ill be fine. Here lately though, I've read if I go single it will be more beneficial with power and torque. Any opinions on this? If u think single then how big? Thanks!

if you are going with mild mods I'd put a full 3" single on there. if you have to have the dual tailpipe look then go with a single in - dual out muffler.

how modded are you now Mike? how much advanced will you be modding. If you are lightly modded I would change the Y pipe...run a single 3" pipe to a 3" si/so muffler. I have never been a fan of si/do mufflers (just preference though), with that said, I've taken that same si/do muffler and flipped it...so I'm true dualing it all the way to the muffler, then going with a single out... I'm different, don't do what i did unless you go into heavy mods (or use smaller inlets)

the stock system is inefficient to begin with (see y pipe)... stockwise, they built this for emissions and performance wasn't top priority... that's why with even an upgrade to a terrible muffler (flowmaster), performance improves..

I have K&N, Superchips, and single in dual out Flowmaster. I'm gonna get the Dynatech Supermaxx system, then was gonna dual it out, but I think I may just stick single

One way to make duals more effective is to go down a 1/4" in the pipe size.

One way to get the dual look without losing torque is to go with a single in / dual out muffler and two tailpipes.

With a single exhaust, use a muffler with a 2.5" inlet and outlet. You can go to a 3" tip for the look.
