Hi Everyone - I am looking to get a new Ram 1500 and this would be my first truck. Can I put a plow on a 1500 with V8 Hemi? I am only using it to plow my driveway(which is almost 600 feet long...).

My thoughts- I wouldn't mount a plow to mine- ever. If I want a truck for plowing, I'm going for a 2500. It may be able to handle the weight of a poly plow, but it doesn't sound like a good idea. I have a snowblower, an ATV with a plow, and a shovel for winter duty.

cause damage to the vehicle.

Attaching a snowplow to this vehicle could adversely

Obviously you can, half the 1500 Rams in Maine have snow plows. Those Fisher "poly plows" are light and work well. Heck, I see plows on Jeeps of all flavors, Dakotas, Ford Rangers. I see plenty of F150's and GM half tons, however the GM trucks have a problem overheating with a plow. Heck a lot of guy plow their driveways with 4 wheelers. I don't blame Chrysler, plowing commercially can ruin any truck, but your drive way. Of course, now you have a reason to buy a new 4 wheeler, garden tractor, etc.

I agree, there are plenty of smaller, lighter trucks plowing- my dad has a Chevy Colorado with a poly plow and there are tons of Jeeps, Dakota's, Silverado 1500s, and F150's plowing in NH. Most of them seem to do well, but if I know I want to plow, I would rather get the right truck from the beginning- a new truck is too expensive to have an "oh sh%^" moment with.

There was mention of an issue with the electric power steering on the '13 and '14 Rams when used for plowing, but I'm not sure of the details.

I would say if it's going to void the warranty on a brand new truck- that should be enough to sway the decision; ask your dealer while you're shopping for the truck if it will void the warranty.

Maybe it's the angle of the camera during filming, but that plow frame looks very close to the pavement.
