I've noticed recently when I'm playing a tune that has bass to it, I notice that most of the bass is channeled up towards the armrest of the door. And when I put my hand over the speaker grill, you barely feel any bass or air passing through. Is this a reason for this? I'm not complaining, actually I was kinda suprised of how good the stock 6x9 speakers hit. And I'm a big audio head. Only thing these stock speakers are missing are good highs in my mind.

p.s. I do NOT have the alpine stereo.

After replacing my front speakers with Polk DB's, I found the factory speakers to be the absolute minimum and cheapest things they could have possibly put in the truck. In fact, they are barely sufficient to fall under the definition of "speaker".

I'm pretty satisfied with my speakers. Good sound and bass.

@thiggins, did you replace your deck too? What did the stock speakers look like, where they made out of the cheap cardboard like the old Delco speakers like GM uses? Thx.

I replaced my door speaker with 6X9 80w Alpines. It cost less than $200 and sounds great. The factory speakers sound o.k. but they aren't very good quality.

I'm keeping my RES head. It actually sounds great, with the new Polks.
Yes, the factory speakers are extremely cheap cardboard cones. I'll attache a picture comparing the fronts. The door speakers are also very cheap, and cardboard, with TINY magnets.

It would be nice if I could just find a good aftermarket speaker that the highs hit very nice and clear and the bass hits pretty good too. I think the bass the stock speakers put out are perfect. Is there such an aftermarket speaker?
