Has anyone used a Spectre drop in filter on a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 liter or there about?
I went to install it and cannot get the top part of the air box to seal. I noticed inside the air box cover there is a molded piece that is slightly lower than the cover.
The top part of the paper filter is recessed just slightly more, 1/8" or so more than the Spectre filter.
So, Should I alter the air box cover or am I missing something?
I have had others look at this and say the filter just won't work unless I alter the air box cover.....

P.S. The K&N does it also.

Here's the culprit....see attached photo below....

Maybe you can look at that Spectre filter and compare it to a standard filter and see on the top part of the filter that the paper filter is recessed a little more than the Spectre...

in my 98 z34 monte, it fit nice and tight but i did have to give it a push, to kind of snap it in. Also just installed another CAI by spectre in the 03 hemi truck, dam i love it and so far am a spectre fan. Use to use K&N, but not any more will keep useing spectre.
