I know I'll regret posting this 'cause someone's going to ask me for my source....but the Sport hood is aluminum. Of course they save on not having to install a regular hood. Why is the Sport hood such an expensive option? I like the way it looks but at over $700 extra it's really spendy! Does it do anything better than the stock hood?
Yep; I believe you're correct on that. They seem to advertise the Sport hood as being aluminum a bit more prominently. The stock hood is aluminum as well...
I hear you. My hood has a slight "line indentation" in it that I see occasionally in the right light. And I have the subtle dents in my hood to prove it. Can't explain where they came from - I think a butterfly landed on it one day....
Yea but right now mopar accessories sport hood is on back order up to 9 months. No idea what the difference is between the mopar aftermarket and and oem replacement sport hood.If the dealer goes through Mopar Accessories for the hood,it gets quite a bit cheaper Heather.
Airdrie Chryco went through that end for me,and my Sport hood came in at $1050.00 brand new.
Cost me almost as much to have it painted as it was to buy it,painting costs were $915.00.
Chryco bends you over on all the underhood parts though.
The insulation pad and clips/underhood light/factory replacement emissions decal/new front rubber sealing strip/hood latch and gold plated bolts for said latch, washer nozzles and hose assembly for the nozzles, making the new hood a direct bolt-on swap, rocked my tree for a little over $400.00 at the dealer.
All told i have close to $2400.00 Canuck bucks into my Sport hood
Still kicking around trying to sell my original hood.
Anybody got a general idea of what a used stock flat hood goes for, that has everything still on it,ie:insulation pad/latch etc.
