Stay 5.9 or go diesel

I have a 1999 1500 with the 5.9. im getting about 13.5mpg. I am thinking about going diesel. I found a 99 with a diesel and wondering if I should go that route or stay where im at? If I do go diesel, is their anything I should look at in particular? It has 214k miles with an automatic. I drive about 100 miles round trip a day. Thanks For the help. Chris

if the block hasn't cracked by now it should be good to go, some were rpaired or rplaced by cummins. the trans may be an issue but was most likely rebuilt at around 100000 miles. if the rest of the truck is in good shape, go for it.
