I can't seem to find any information on this. When I open and especially close my tailgate I hear a loud "bang" sound, like something is binding up then releasing. It is very annoying.

I see what appears to be a torsion rod at the hinges and I have loosened the bolt on the passenger side to no avail. Thinking about removing it to see what the heck is going on.

Certainly with so many people on this forum someone else has had this problem, no? And ideas on how to fix this issue?

Thanks,

Well turned out simple. After removing the tailgate and then removing the Lift Assist torsion bar, I cleaned it all up and greased the torsion bar pivot. When putting it back in I noticed that opening and closing it caused it to rub up against the plastic bumper cover right by the license plate.

The bumper had been hit and pushed in and up a little.

New bumper coming tomorrow so that should do it!
