I've got an 05 1/2 ton dodge ram with 214k on the clock. Its got the 4.7 mated to a 5 speed automatic. I love the pickup, its an excellent daily. However i was wondering, is the tick on startup normal? it seems to almost totally go away once it's about halfway up to operating temp and once its at full temp its dead silent. I just replaced both exhaust manifolds because the bolts had broken (as they do lol) and just replaced the lifters and rockers. The exhaust manifolds got rid of the exhaust sound but the lifters and rockers had little to no effect on the tick. Is it something i should be worried about? Or is it just a sound the 4.7 makes that means basically nothing?
