Does anyone know anything about cams? I'm new to internal motor work. I really wanna put this cam in my truck and get the 4:56 gears. My 4.7 with these 35 inch tires are not cuttin it anymore in the speed department. What will I need besides a tune to run this cam? Would I need to do anything to the heads? Will I need new rockers and lifters? Anything would help me on this. My truck is bone stock except for a muffler. I plan to have Gibson shortys and a Volant CAI before the cam and gear install. Here's the link...

The h.o. cams are a nice up grade. I ran them for a little while along with a cai, exhaust, and superchips. What year truck do you have? You should look into a getting an 08 intake and the adapters airram has. The intake will lean you up a little but you will be fine until your able to get a custom tune.

H.O. cam specs
.472 lift on the Intake with 236* of duration
.429 lift on the Exhaust with 250* of duration
with an 18* overlap

Not really much difference. The current cam specs:

.443 in. w/243 degrees
.429 ex. w/253 degrees
overlap 17.6 degrees

It seems to me like the listed cams would be better for racing and won't make the low end torque that Silver05Ram is looking for to turn those big tires.

Well there has been many to say that the h.o. cams are better than stock. I myself have seen the results at the track. The h.o. cams have a tighter lsa and make more tq then the stock cams. You may be correct but I know to many people who have went from stock to h.o. cams so ill let the cams speak for themselves.

You need plenty of tq to get these quad cabs off the line or to pull all that weight around.

If it was me I would throw in some 206 cams and a custom tune and and some 4.56 gears and call it a day.

You can run this cam without doing anything to the heads. As for a tuner, superchips is a real good tuner.

Don't get me wrong, I love the 4.7 engine. I was just wondering if someone makes a cam that puts more torque in a lower RPM band.

They don't make nothing like that. There's talk about custom billet grinds but there pricey.
