So I got my new torque converter installed in my 2011 sport. The truck has 2800 km on it. If any of you are on the fence about getting it done because you don't want your truck taken apart here are my thoughts. I stood and watched the tech the whole time my truck was in the shop--I am VERY fussy about my stuff. It was a very painless experience. About four hours. The only part that did not go smoothly was re-installing the trans because there is a bracket on the drivers side that goes to the diff and the motor mount that is really in the way when re installing the trans. I little wiggling and a little prying with a large pry bar and in it went. Other than that it is just nuts and bolts and very simple.

The new converter is wicked quite and causes way less vibration. My truck has not been that smooth and quite since I got it.

So in short

Yes the juice is worth the squeeze

Absolutely agree. I just got mine replaced this week. Noticed the difference as soon as I left the dealership. 100% smoother and quieter at all speeds and rpm's.

Nice good the hear. I am on the fence about this. My TC is acting up now and was debating aftermarket or oem. Does the truck feel like it has more power or accelerates better? My freind had a chevy 2500 years ago that had TC problems and was very common and that truck. TC was replaced by a TSB TC and his truck had lost a good amount of power from the new updated TC!

could be just in my head but I think it has a little more snap of the line but for sure no less. I was going to buy the r/t torque and have the original one replace with that but I was worried about a loss of fuel mileage because I mostly drive in town short trips. After mine was replaced I went for a ride in a friends R/T and then I wished I would have got that torque conv. but oh well it is done now.

Remains to be seen how long it will be before the new one starts growling again. Have heard of a few that have been replaced, some were ok, some wern`t, so its gonna be interesting to see the miledge results on the trucks that had the new TC put in. Some have reported that the new TC was noisier than the original one that came out of their truck. I know this to be true, because some of those guys are right here on this forum talkin about it. Anyhow, good luck to you guys that have good results, i hope for yall`s sake that it lasts and stays quiet. Mine rattles and groans, but i`m not letting them touch my truck until it blows the transmission out of it, THEN they`ll have to replace BOTH the TC and the transmission. My TC noise has not ever gotten worse, nore has it ever gotten better, but i dont want them making my truck worse off by touching it, which seems to be the issue around here at ALL the dealerships. Every recall they`ve done on my truck has made my truck worse off and i am NOT happy about the sh!t quality of work they`ve been doing to my truck.

Stand there and watch them. They know that you mean business and that you care about your vehicle and the quality of work that is done on it. After my torque converter replacement I would be very comfortable letting the tech that worked on it work on it again, but I would still stand and watch. There are more hacks that are trying to do the work as quick as possible than good techs. Once you find a good tech make friends with him..it helps. I feel bad for all of you guys that struggle with the workmanship at the various dealers, that has to be very frustrating. A torque converter being replaced is not that hard and is not something that you should loose sleep over.

My TC was replaced in a NH dealership during Christmas (middle of my vacation with family), but not positive results.
Local dealer in Texas did not know how to fix since TC was replaced with no positive results.
Chrysler start a Lemon on it last week, but they stop it, I need to try to fix it one more time, need more entries to confirm the lemon.
Truck going to a different dealer tomorrow.
A month with my truck down, can't drive it, drone gets louder and louder, even the passenger can fell the rattling.
