So, been trying to find the problem with this truck for a while now. Finally had time to take the valve covers off and have a look at the chains.

Following the procedure in the Chrysler service manual I aligned the crank to TDC and had a look at the CAM sprockets. The V8 stamps are supposed to line up at 12 o'clock to be on spec.

The drivers side CAM sprocket does line up to 12 o'clock, the passenger side however is more like 11:57... It's about 2 degrees off.

So I guess the question is... How far off or out of alignment can they be before the problem is obvious? Is two degrees off enough to trip the CPS CKP out of sync code?
