To the Gas Mileage Cry Babies...LOL

Just checked the average MPGs on the wifeys 2012 GC, and it's just about the same as mine...city driving (~14 - ~15 mpg). Pretty happy with it considering it's a heavy truck with all the extra options including 4x4. Don't know what the comparison is while driving on the highway, but pretty happy in city mode.

I hooked the travel trailer (de-winterizing time) and couldn't believe how different it was pulling it vs. my '06 QC. I got the 4-point equilizer tweaked and couldn't notice a difference in sag as I feared since we now have coil instead of leaf springs. I didn't have a HEMI on the '06 and was happier than a dog with two tails with the power I now have. I also love the integrated brake controller. I had an aftermarket on the SLT and it left many scars while exiting or entering the truck. I haven't flashed the EVIC yet, but will do it when the oil change is due.

So, you cry babies....get a Prius....and for your speed cry babies...get a sports car. LMAO

Back at you buddy!! Tired of getting walked by my friends ford with a ecoboost 6, while getting much better fuel economy then my 2012 Hemi crew . BTW it tows better too. Does not have a cylinder de-activation to achieve these goals. Does not have huge weights attached to the frame to cut down on the harmonic vibration created by the hemi. When coming to a stop the fuel does not hit you in the back. I guess thats a dodge reminder that you still have some left! I like my truck but it has it faults and some company's are doing a better job. Just saying!!
Just my 2 cents on Ecoboost..... Yes they are a bit faster and have a bit more power... but at what expense? An engine that has Turbo's.... Which require more maintenance, More expensive Premium fuel, and have more parts that are going to cost way more to fix when they blow.... also depending on what they take with them when they go. We will see how they hold out, in the meantime I'll dream about the day they crack this ECU and we can throw superchargers on these Hemi's and tune them to run in the high 400's for HP etc etc...

Who knows I might be wrong down the road, but for now at least Im not driving a Ford :p

Could be the driver.
Have a friend with and ecoboost, she gets terrible fuel mileage. If you drive with your foot in it you're gonna get poor MPG. I agree with Atomik69, there are more parts that can fail with a turbo 6 running at high compression. Time will tell.
Every time I think about the mileage, I just nail it and the hemi puts a  on my face!

If I wanted a truck for light duty and better mileage, I might consider an ecoboost but I would never tow with one. I have buds who own them and are sorry they didn't go for the 5.0

Guys, its a truck, like 2012 Longhorn says...

That was exactly my point!

I wanted the luxury of a nice big sedan, the power to easily tow toys, my mouth to drool whenever I looked at it, and to be honest when I was shopping I never looked at how many MPGs they got or how fast they could do the 1/4 mile. The Fords are nice trucks, but in my opinion, the Rams started looking much better ever since they came up with that new front end, and they keep out-designing other brands.

I dunno man, a 3.5 V6 making that much torque? I guess if you are going to drive it for 3 years and then trade it in...

As long as I can afford a big block V8, I'll always drive one.
Well I have the best of both worlds! A FORD Lightning and a Dodge Hemi Ram...two totally different trucks that perform in 2 totally different ways...As my signature says "I get smiles per gallon".

If your refering to the Hemi as a big block its actually a small block lol.

Right on! Best looking (subjective but many agree), best ride (fact), best price/value (fact). Decent mileage, power, towing, interior, innovations (coils, Rambox), etc., etc., etc. This is why we own a Ram. I mean come on, look at my sig. You can't beat those looks!
I assume your wife's 2012 GC has a hemi, because miy wife has a 2012 4x4 GC with the 3.6 V6 and her average on the DIC is sitting at 19.8mpg and mine is sitting at 14.5 for pretty much the same hwy/city route lol.

I havent taken any trips with this 2012 yet but I did with the Jeep and I saw a hand calculated 23.5mpg at 70-75mph. Best my old 2010 4x4 laramie with 3.55s did was 19.6 on a trip - ever. I dont expect this '12 to do any better since it sits at teh exact same average as my old one.

As far as an ecoboost they are pretty boring to drive, yes at full throttle they are quicker than these. lot of that has to do with a real six speed transmission with properly spaced ratios. But the mileage isnt any better than these, if you you are on the throttle constantly with either the fuel mileage sucks. Myself I'll take the cubic inches over the smaller forced induction engine in a heavy pickup, at least until they can get significantly better mileage out of it.

No, she has the 3.6 V6. I think the reason she doesn't get good mileage is because the GC never sees highway speeds. She works a few miles from the house and her driving habits are lead-footed from light to light LOL. Whenever we go somewere we always take my truck, because quite honestly, she scares the heebie jeebies out of me when she drives. Whenever I drive the GC I feel like I'm in a hamster cage...you get used to a nice big interior and the GC feels like a prius. Not saying anything bad about the new GCs....they are super nice and that new frame and suspension deal they stole from the Mercedes makes a nice ride. They even put double pane windows just like the Mercs have. Not to mention that really nice passive entry option.

Yeah you are right, a 348 is considered a small block. But it's a small block with a big block personality. LOL. Kinda like the short person syndrome.

I like that, "Smiles Per Gallon". Next time someone asks me how many MPGs I get, I'll tell them I get way more SPGs than their death trap.
Im sorry, but comparing any truck to another is ridiculous.

Lets say this, I'm young, first truck i owned was a 2005 f150, bought it in 2011. Regular cab STX with the 4.2L. Silver and for being 6 years old only had 17k miles on it. It was ridiculously clean. Loved that truck and I sometimes miss it. But i wanted to step up to a "mans" truck.

Looked at fords, ran accrossed some Eco Boosts that I thought were nice. But in the back of my mind, i knew that six bangers were just girly to me. And I could not stand having a quite truck in the first place, of course you arnt going to put a loud exhaust on a sixy because its going to sound like a sissy. I wanted a v8... SO i went after the 5.0s, looking at fx4s with cloth seats and just base packages. XLT Texas edition with the 5.0 was right around 40 grand MSRP. 34grand or so with the truck month incentives.

Well after a month or so truck less, I had done all my Ford research and was ready to buy one. Headed to the dealership, ON THE WAY I see a big ol' red sign. Said "Get a Hemi for free!" after having a good chuckle to myself i decided to pull in. Long story short 2 hours later I was holding the keys to a 2012 ram 1500 Lone Star, loaded with everything except leather seats. For A LITTLE OVER 26,000 before TTL and whatever incentives i decided to go with. Comparing that to fords equivalent trim level being right at 36,000 before TTL with the Eco Boost. Im glad to say I decided to save my money and take the gentlemen truck.

The day Ford takes those turbos and puts them on the 5.0, ill trade my ram in. Until then, I made the correct choice. ALSO, if you know how to drive... You can walk all over any ecoboost owner. My .02

Sorry for the hijacking (;

The new GC is a nice SUV, you wouldnt even think is was made by Chrysler/Jeep :) Previous to it my wife had an AWD Hemi Commander and that one got worse mileage than either my old '10 or new '12 Hemi CC Ram. The new V6 isnt exactly a powerhouse but its way better than the old V6.

I didnt buy the Ram for fuel mileage, all full size pickups get around the same mileage, but I think the Dodge is the best looking inside and out. Plus I like the ride, hard to beat for what you can buy them for.
