So, I found a crazy deal on a 2007 charger srt8 (red) with only 15xxxkm's and I'm checking into how low they will go on it. My 2010 ram R/T has 55xxxkm's and I'm not sure if I want to trade it or not. I kind of like my lsd and 4.10 gears.... and I'm afraid that charger wont do what my truck does....but I think that car will hold its value better then my truck, as I've watched my truck value plummet since I bought it new. I'm hoping members of the forum may throw out some pros/cons and help me with the decision. How much do you think each vehicle is worth? Thanks guys.

2007 SRT's have been holding their value but I must say my 08 Ram did very well when I traded for my 11. Don't know how the values up north equate to down here my wife and I looked at a 2007 Superbee with 55k on it and they wanted 28 grand. Too many miles for the money IMO. the 07 is going to have the 425HP engine. But what level of options?

Also in Alberta if it isn't a 4X4 it isn't going to hold its value for a truck....input Ram R/T 2X4 here.....

Honestly, I have ALWAYS seen Ram's drop 50% of their value or more in the first 3 years.

In late 1999, my father bought a brand new 2000 Ram 1500 SLT-Plus 4x4(leather interior, woodgrain etc, basically the equivalent of the Laramie at the time)...He paid a little undr $40,000, which was ALOT for a Half-ton truck then.

In early 2003 when he went to trade it in (after 3 trannies and 4 rear ends under warranty, in less than 40,000 miles), He was offered...wait for it...

$16,000  The truck was mint, never wrecked, hauled around a 12' slide-in bed camper and a 24' Bayliner Ciera for those 2 summers, but other than that it was babied its whole life. Why they said it was only worth 16,000 dollars at 3 years old is beyond me. He ended up selling it privately for $23,000 and buying a Ford. After all the problems he had with his Dodge, he swore them off.

At that time, my mother had an 02 Chrysler Concorde Limited they bought brand new as well. Same story, 3 transmissions in 40k miles, and that car was babied too. Mom traded in on a Camry in 03 she was offered $12,000. It too was a $40,000 dollar car, but she wanted to be rid of it. She then traded up for a Lexus LS in 2008 when the LS600HL came out.

My father has seen, and even driven my ram. Its a nice truck to be sure. But he said he will never own another mopar product. The shitty dealer service and unreliable POS's he got twice in 2 years have shaken his confidence. I told him its not the same company since Fiat took over in 2009 and started redoing things, but he doesnt care.

Moral of the story, if you are gonna buy an american made vehicle, and you are worried about resale...wait till the next model year comes out if you are gonna buy it new and buy a leftover, and wait 2 model years if you want to buy used...that way someone else can absorb the depreciation.
