Might want to have the front end looked at for worn parts.

I've adjusted or turned 1/4 turn 3 times already. Still have some play in steering.

How do you know if you have gone too much?

And can I make anything worse by adjusting to much?

I have the same thing, I had the inner and outer tie rods replaced since they were worn and the main culprit, had the front end aligned and it drives better now but there still seems to be some play in the steering, I might give this a try
