So after a pile of research, watching YouTube videos, and talking to half a dozen or so different hitch dealers, the general consense was that I needed the Sidewinder pinbox to tow a Fifth Wheel trailer with my 2016 Ram 2500 Laramie that has a RamBox.

Not so!

Equipment:
  • 2016 Ram 2500 Laramie Rambox
  • 2020 Keystone Sprinter 23MLS
  • Curt A16 Hitch

On level ground I can probably have the RV at about 70-75 degrees before the pinbox is close to the Rambox, which I think is more than you’ll ever need in a practical sense. The fifth wheel is a good 4 inches from the cab.
If you’re trying to get 90 degrees on a hill, I’d say you’re going to have bigger issues than with the RamBox.
I’m glad I didn’t spend a pile of extra money on a sidewinder, and my setup is all I’ll ever need.
