1998 through 2000 Ram Trucks with a factory installed trailer hitch have a recall. I have my '99 1500 at the dealer right now having them preform the service.

When was that recall first out? (year) I have inspected mine a couple of times & everything looked good. Not sure about the bracing, what it looks like. My 99 2500 only has 75,000 original miles. PO was pretty good about doing service stuff. PO bought it new to tow his boat.

I don't know when the recall was issued. I think it was around ten years ago. If the PO took the truck in and his hitch was cracked they would have replaced the whole thing. If it wasn't, you would be able to spot the plates with three bolts on either side of the hitch support tubes.

I learned that recall the hard way on my old 99. Luckily the damages weren't that bad to the back-end, it was just the pain of having to get it fixed and replaced during one of my big lumber hauls to our job site.

mine was never updated... I'll have to bring it to the local stealership
