well i was being an idiot today and went trail riding and came to a stream tried crossing it....and i broke through, i got the truck out with the help of my moms 04 gmc and it shifted fine the whole way home. stopped at my moms house shut the truck off for a few hours. went to go leave and now it wont shift out of 1st gear. what should i do from here, i was gona try draining the fluid and putting new in? just want to know what you guys think. thanks

That would probably be a good start, I would check all the connectors and see if they have water in them...pull them apart and let them dry well.

alright then thats what i figured just didnt know if there was anything in particular i should go for first

Not too sure, depends on what you find when you drain it. I would replace the filters too while you are in there!

are the filters difficult to do...never frigged around with the insides of a tranny before....just taken them out and put them in. i just dont want to mess it up even more than it already is haha

Once you get the fluid pan off, it should be pretty simple!

Also take an air gun blow out trans cooler line and torque converter. Any little bit of water will mess with it.
