I didn't even knows there was a trans temp light, but Mine went on last night. Light came on so I found a place to stop the truck and let it cool down. Waited about 5 minutes and started it up and drove away. 5 miles later, the light came on again. I stopped for about 5 minutes and started again. I drove another 3 miles to my destination and visited for about 4 hours.

I left and drove at 60miles per hour (instead of 75) for 35 miles all the way home. No light. Everything seems fine. No clutch slippage, Overdrive seems to work fine.

I noticed something when the light came on. Until I stopped, the overdrive would turn off and would not come on again until the trans was cool.

1- Is this normal?
2- How should I combat high temps in the trans?
