Hi All I have a 2017 2500 Ram with a 6.4 Hemi
I tow a 14000 tractor trailer when I go down a fairly steep grade in Tow Haul
using a touch or two of brakes the transmission will shift down , as it should then when I get to the bottom of hill or it levels out it will not shift up even when applying gas. I have to manually move shift lever to neutral then it will come out of gear and shift up.
I have had it in to my dealer twice with no joy yet? they did a flash ? but say there tech has not gotten that class yet?
any thoughts guys?

While I can't offer any advice from a technical perspective myself, I will recommend trying to post this in the 6.4 Powertrain section (linked below). We have a member named TransEngineer who may be able to provide some insight for you. I also question the "tech has not gotten the class yet". Does that mean they don't have anyone trained to trrouble shoot or flash a computer at your dealership? If that's the case, I'd head to another dealership!

Good luck, and here is the link (maybe a mod can move this as well):

Tow/Haul mode will alter the upshift speeds, and inhibit top gear unless you're in a light-throttle cruise condition. So instead of shifting to Neutral, you might try turning Tow/Haul mode off and then back on.

Why it would get "stuck" after an automatic downshift, I don't know. Could be a software bug. I would NOT think there's any problem with the trans internally. Sounds like a control system issue.
