TROUBLE REMOVING KEY FROM IGNITION

HI FOLKS,

HAVE 2014 RAM 1500 REGULAR CAB WITH 5.7 AND SIX SPEED AND SHIFT LEVER ON COLUMN. PURCHASED NEW AND NOW HAS ONLY 15K MILES. NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. SOMETIMES AFTER PUTTING INTO PARK THE KEY WON'T COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. I'VE FOUND THAT SHIFTING OUT OF PARK AND FIRMLY BACK INTO PARK TAKES CARE OF PROBLEM. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT CAUSE MIGHT BE? THANKS MUCH.

WHY ARE YOU SO ANGRY??? Oh sorry caps lock. Shift interlock mechanism is not working properly. You'll have to take apart the column and see what's up.
Zaan, thanks for your response. Am hoping to find out how involved and costly the remedy was if somebody has experienced same problem. I'm not particularly mechanically inclined so wouldn't attempt to take apart the column but hopefully the interlock mechanism isn't complex and is a relatively easy fix. Not yet enough of a problem that I'm ready to take to CDJR, but it could get that way. Thanks again.
You could always try an independat shop that friends and family use. When you find one talk to them first about the problem and possible solutions and go from there.

Namretsud, thanks for your response and ideas. At this point it doesn't happen often enough for me to be inclined to seek mechanical help and before doing that maybe somebody who has actually dealt with the problem will come forward and I'll go from there. Hey, maybe next oil change would be a good time to run it by the advisor if I haven't already figured it out. Thank you again.
