I am leaking differential fluid from where the drive shaft bolts up to the differential I was thinking that the u joints are going bad?
IDK if there would be any other causes to this

Thanks

Have the same year truck and am having the same problem. I changed the u joint but I knew that wasn't the problem. But I have to take the drive shaft off and pull it apart before I know what it is for sure. Have you looked at the fluid in it?

The drive shaft is just a hollow round tube with U joints welded to it at both ends

If you had a fluid leak near the transmission, it would be a bad rear seal in the transmission

If you have a leak at the rear differential, it is a leaking pinion seal in the rear end
it is a common problem with every kind & brand of vehicle

this is a half assed way to fix it

^^what he said^^

universal joints don't leak. The needle bearings inside the caps go dry and fail...they are greased, not enough grease would come out of them to give you indication they are "leaking". Further investigation will tell you if your pinion or transmission is actually the culprit.
