I just want to let everyone know a new firmware update is available for the 8.4a and possibly others. Biggest change for me noticed was the jittery backup cam video feed is now very smooth.

So I am on the older version, I think its 14.03.05 right? This was up to date when i bought the truck....last weekend. How quickly things change.

When i check the Uconnect site it says it cant find my VIN. Which according to Uconnect means I am on the current version.

I have the 8.4AN. Does this update apply for me? Last thing I want to do is try to update and brick the "brain-hub" of my new Ram.

I have noticed some minor jitter in the backup cam, but not really bad where it affects the functionality.

Thanks!

Installed new Rev

Downloaded from link provided above and installed. I have noticed the rear camera is smoother. I used to get shuttering in the past, now its not.

To 10-12 minutes with the on board modem taking the longest. It seemed stuck at one point then it moved along.

thanks!

Incorrect, it means just that; it cannot find your VIN. If you do not need the update then it will tell you so, such as "there is no update for your vehicle". It will also identify your radio and which update is for you.

This came from a Jeep forum. Not really that much in this build.

1. Navigation function would reset itself when user does a one-shot VR entry to specific small cities in CT, NH, NY, ME, VT, WI, RI

2. Navigation function would reset itself when user does a one-shot VR entry from within British-Columbia, Canada to any location outside of that province

3. GPS receiver would sporadically lose position fix for several minutes causing positioning and routing issues while navigating

4. GPS receiver and internal cellular device would fail into an inoperable state that would result in permanent loss of GPS positioning and loss of cellular function (Yelp search, Assist app, Emergency call function)

5. User receives a Pop-up message for “Vehicle Phone Requires Service”, even though vehicle phone function is normal

6. The temperature in Automatic Temperature Control vehicles sold in certain European markets was not adjustable

7. The Head Unit rear-view camera image is grainy image and ‘stutters’ when moving objects are in frame or while playing video from Rear-Seat Entertainment system

Does anyone who has done the update noticed if your HD radio stations tune to HD every time? There was one update where you had to hit HD every time you tuned to a station to get it to go HD... I can live with the jittery backup picture if I lose that functionality!

Thanks!

I had Nav issues in my truck, it had 0 accuracy and would show me driving in Lake Michigan. I live in Wisconsin so it was off, took the truck to the dealer today and they tried to flash it to this new version. It bricked my radio into a constant reboot cycle flashing on and then off. I've tried 2 different USB drives and it won't take either update. It gets to step 10 of 12 and gets to 40% on that stage and craps out.

They're ordering me a new radio which will be radio number 3 in this truck. :(

Sparky,

I have the same problem with my VIN on their website. I called the customer support number today and they looked up my VIN and they do see that I registered my radio properly etc. a couple months ago But for some reason, like you, the website cannot find my VIN and says it is invalid.

The phone rep told me to call back on Monday and ask for the secondary UConnect specialist team that deals with more complicated technical issues. The UConnect support number is 1-877-855-8400. The specialist team can tell you if you qualify for the latest update or not. According to my radio I have the 14.5.3 firmware so it looks like I do need to update my radio with the new 14.25.5 firmware. My backup camera is jittery like so many others. It always annoyed me.

I just need to know how to apply the update properly and I'll give it a shot. Can anyone here explain how to do the firmware flash yourself and not take it to the darn dealer?

Jason
